Professional Development Initiatives

The CNYTC is dedicated to providing high quality, research based professional development programs for educators in central New York. The goal of this program is to improve student achievement by supporting educator growth through Professional Development Initiatives. The foundation of this program is based on the New York State Professional Development Standards adopted by the New York State Board of Regents on January 27, 2009.The following initiatives are available to districts located, and educators employed, in the CNYTC consortium.

 

ø  District Initiative (formerly known as Professional Development Grant)

Purpose: Provide support in the amount of $3,000 for districts to ensure that educators are provided with ongoing, high quality professional development to sustain and enhance their practice in accordance with district professional development goals and the New York State Professional Development Standards.

 

ø  Instructional Initiative (formerly known as Mini-Grant)

Purpose: Provide professional development support, $500/individual or $750/team, for educators to learn new and improved methods, practices, and techniques directly related to instruction in order to develop and produce curricular materials to meet the educational needs of students. The initiative must be in accordance with the NYS Learning Standards and the NYS Professional Development Standards.

 

ø  Conference Initiative (formerly known as Conference Grant)

Purpose: Provide professional development support up to $200 to educators employed within the CNYTC consortium to attend a conference of their choice to promote their professional development goals. You choose the conference, submit a proposal, and if awarded, reimbursement will be made to you or your district for the registration fee. No other expenses will be reimbursed.
